Audio Books

I am opening a new thread for uploading audiobooks. PDFs will be accompanied as well as and when they are available. I find audiobooks very comfortable as I can listen to these while commuting to work and convert most non-productive times worth-while...

Hope these are useful.

We're in the middle of an epidemic of average. So-called "normal" people get up every day, go to work, do what's asked of them, leave promptly at 5, and return home to sit on the couch and watch TV. Society tells us that this is what it means to lead a balanced life. Don't stress too much or work too hard. Your career isn't everything. But Grant Cardone thinks this preoccupation with balance has really just given an excuse to be mediocre. The bestselling author, self-made multimillionaire, radio and TV personality, and owner of Grant Cardone TV knows that if you want real success, you have to be obsessed. You have to be hungry and hyper-focused and insatiable, and not listen to naysayers who tell you to tone it down. You also have to know how to harness that obsession so that you can use it to your advantage. Some of his maxims:-"Criticism is easily avoided by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing."-"Never fear the haters - fear the weak who listen to them."-"Most people are dying at 20 and making it official at 80. Most people are living their life with nothing to brag or talk about."If you're looking for someone to coddle you and make excuses for your lack of success, you've come to the wrong book. For many people, a career isn't everything. For everyone else, there's Grant Cardone.

Great job man. I had sought XoSip views to this a long while back, but there was no response at all

I love listening to audio books as saviors on monotonous drives to and from office.

Now that you've started a thread on this, great!

George Orwell’s classic work, 1984, serves as a warning to future generations of the evils that arise from a life under constant surveillance by an all-knowing government. Orwell paints a bleak picture of oppression by a hierarchical system of control. 1984, with its intense use of detail, creates an image in the reader’s mind of destruction; the destruction of the free will of the individual person.
Orwell effectively achieves his purpose by creating an atmosphere where the events of the book are unpredictable. This aspect of the work reinserts fear at every turning point as Winston battles his internal struggle against his memories. The shock that Winston feels translates to the reader as well. With a changing story, Orwell alludes to how unpredictable life can be. Whereas some works can be rationalized out, this book is far away from what we perceive as government today. With the “party” controlling every aspect of society in 1984, the uncertainty of events at every turn is present.

Written by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter in 1997, Rich Dad Poor Dad is based mostly on Kiyosaki's young days spent in Hawaii. Enriched by Kiyosaki’s personal experience and the teachings he received from his rich dad and poor dad, the book highlights different attitudes towards money, work and life.

Framed around six main teachings and lessons, the book is mostly a self-reflection. Apart from the financial benefits, the book also describes and highlights the teachings he got from his poor dad, i.e., empathy and responsibility towards society.

Described as a personal finance book, it has not only challenged, but has also changed the way people think about money. The book talks about Kiyosaki’s background, his business ventures and investments and variation between possessions and liabilities and what importance they both have in terms of starting and owning a business. It also sheds light on the teachings given by rich to their kids, which is usually missed by poor as well as the middle class parents and why it is important to have financial literacy over and above all.

It also provides impetus on doing work for learning and not for earning and teaches the importance of investing and building business. This path-breaking book also showcase how one must be prepared to take action and risk and communicates the idea of how one’s primary residence is a liability and not an asset. It communicates the importance of intelligence and literacy in terms of finance and how financial and entrepreneurial skills play a vital role in the success. How to use power and prosper with the help of investment skills and why it is important to possess investment skills are also written in clear and crisp words in this book.

The book also talks of the importance of investment and free enterprise and urges the prospective investors and businessmen to learn from others, especially from rich people and generate new ideas to excel and succeed in life.

Originally published in 1997, it was also selected commercially. Termed as New York-Times bestseller, the book has been a boon for management and financial aspirants.

To be successful today, you don’t need to have been born under a lucky star, with incredible wealth, with terrific con-tacts and connections, or even with special skills. But what you do need to succeed in any of your life goals is self-discipline. Unfortunately, many people give in to the two worst enemies of success: They take the path of least resistance, or they sim-ply want immediate gratification. Neither approach will work. They don’t consider the long-term consequences of the actions they take today.
